Pink Wall (Färg)
Örebro Konsthall, Örebro, 2016

Site-specific installation and performance

As part of the exhibition FÄRG, a section of the exhibition space at Örebro Konsthall was preserved and activated as a distinct spatial zone. On the floor, painted EU pallets were placed as colored trajectories through the room. The pallets rested in a poured field of chalk that covered a large part of the space. During the exhibition period, the chalk slowly dried and developed an evolving network of cracks, making time and material change visible as an integral part of the work.

Adjacent to a preserved wall section, a group of EU pallets was initially painted white. These pallets later became part of a live painting performance, where they were gradually infused with color. For the exhibition opening, musician Arvid Wretman (Your Planet Is Next) was invited to perform electronic music. We agreed on a one-hour shared act, working in parallel: Wretman with a live sound setup, and I with a set of tools and a large quantity of pink paint.

My intention was to transform the white wall into an almost monochrome pink surface through a performative painting process. The pink wall functioned as a strong chromatic marker in relation to the colored pallets distributed throughout the space. The work unfolded as a simultaneous interaction between sound, gesture, material, and spatial presence—where painting was not only an image but an event, and where color operated as both substance and spatial force.

The installation and performance together explored color as structure, duration, and orientation, allowing material processes and live action to reshape the perception of the exhibition room over time.
