Roof tiles and oil paint
In Tiles, glossy, pigment-rich oil paint is combined with the craft history embedded in the roof tile. The two are bound together through a deliberate physical pressure: I place my body weight onto the tiles and allow the paint to slowly force its way forward.
The resulting image and form are determined partly by the applied pressure, but even more by the underside of the tile itself. Damage, grooves, irregularities, and the varying thickness of the oil paint shape what emerges. The work unfolds as a negotiation between material resistance, bodily force, and the latent form already present in the object.
