Stroke
Stroke is a series of paintings by Torbjörn Johansson presented at Wadström Tönnheim Gallery in Marbella in 2022.
Oil and wax on acrylic-primed linen Dimensions: 190 × 157 / 46 × 38 / 120 × 109 cm
The series was produced in three different formats in order to investigate repetition and to test what each scale demands and offers the others. I usually begin with two, sometimes three colors, slowly built up in acrylic. At a decisive moment, an additional color is introduced—an oil and wax mixture carrying a dense material presence. Over time this layer cracks, emphasizing the oscillation between physical matter and image.
