Wanderings

Wanderings is a group exhibition developed collaboratively by the participating artists, presented at Kummelholmen in 2025.

To wander, to grope, to search is both a state and a movement. Perhaps also an inner condition? Even a necessity?

The exhibition Wanderings takes its point of departure in this movement between different expressions, times, states, and ways of understanding. The movement rarely has a clear goal; instead, it is driven by desire, curiosity, memories, dreams, or illogical impulses.

Within this movement there are no maps. Only a search for what has not yet been seen, what has not yet been understood. A temporary pause at the outer edges of language—where names may be missing, meaning appears dissolved, and form remains unfinished.

To move in such an apparently aimless way might be seen as provocative in a society and a time permeated by efficiency, structure, and goal orientation. Yet it is also necessary—almost vital—to get lost, to arrive at places one has not been before, and to remain within the unexpected.

To wander without direction, external or internal, can therefore sometimes be the only way to find a point or a vantage from which the world, the work, the body, and thought appear from another perspective.

The exhibition Wanderings invites you to move toward the peripheral, the tactile, and the irrational. Perhaps also to lose your way—and thereby discover something you would otherwise not have seen.Kummelholmen 2025.
